DesignPass

Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of DesignPass.dev (the website, docs, previews, public registry endpoints, and newsletter). They are separate from the license that covers copy-pasted component source.

Agreement

By accessing or using DesignPass.dev, you agree to these Terms of Use, our Privacy Policy, and our Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

The site is operated by Ernest Liu (operating DesignPass.dev). You must be at least 16 years old to subscribe to the newsletter or otherwise provide personal information.

Two different things: site terms vs. component license

This page covers how you may use the website and related services (browsing, docs, demos, newsletter signup, and APIs we expose).

Free registry items (components, blocks, and other free tier source) are released under the MIT License. That license, plus our attribution ask, is explained on the library license page and in our AI usage policy. Using a free component in your own app is governed by that license, not by a blanket "no redistribution of site material" clause.

A paid pro tier may arrive later with different commercial terms. Those terms will be published before any pro item ships. Do not circumvent any access controls we place on pro content.

What you may do

  • Browse the site, docs, and playgrounds for lawful purposes
  • Install or copy free registry items under the MIT License, keeping the attribution notice as described on the license page
  • Use public registry and docs endpoints in a reasonable way (including agent installers that follow rate limits and our AI preferences)
  • Link to public pages on DesignPass.dev in a way that is not misleading
  • Subscribe to the newsletter with an email you control

What you may not do

  • Break or probe the site, abuse rate limits, or overload APIs
  • Scrape or bulk-download the site or registry in a way that degrades service for others, or that is designed to clone the catalog as a competing product
  • Misrepresent affiliation with DesignPass.dev or Ernest Liu (for example, implying official endorsement you do not have)
  • Strip attribution at scale to rebrand free items as a competing component marketplace or registry product
  • Use the site to send spam, malware, or unlawful content
  • Circumvent access controls if we gate pro content, downloads, or APIs behind a paid license
  • Provide someone else's email to the newsletter or recommendation flows without authority to do so

Newsletter and recommendations

Subscribing is optional. By joining, you ask us to email you product updates (and a welcome message when enabled). You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in those emails. Local or unconfigured environments may store signups only in memory for testing; production uses Beehiiv when configured.

After some signups we may show third-party newsletter recommendations. Confirming those selections can share your email with the publications you leave selected. Skipping or closing without confirming does not enroll you in those other lists. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Intellectual property

Site branding, copy, layout, artwork, and non-registry materials are owned by Ernest Liu / DesignPass.dev unless otherwise noted. Registry source files carry their own license headers. Trademarks and product names remain with their owners.

If you send feedback, ideas, or suggestions about DesignPass.dev, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use and incorporate that feedback without obligation to you. This does not transfer ownership of your own products that use our components.

Third-party services and links

The site may link to third-party sites (including ernestliu.com and vendor dashboards). We are not responsible for their content or policies. Analytics, hosting, fonts, and newsletter vendors process data as described in the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

Free components may depend on third-party libraries. Those dependencies keep their own licenses and terms. You are responsible for complying with them in your projects.

Disclaimer

The site and free registry items are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant uninterrupted availability, error-free demos, non-infringement, or fitness for a particular purpose. Preview and playground output is for evaluation; you are responsible for testing, accessibility, security, and compliance of anything you ship.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DesignPass.dev and Ernest Liu will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the site or registry items, even if advised of the possibility. Our total liability for claims relating to the free site and free tier will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US $100), or the amount you paid us for the service giving rise to the claim in the twelve months before the claim, whichever is greater.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations. In those places, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Ernest Liu and DesignPass.dev from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the site, your violation of these terms, or your products that incorporate registry items (except to the extent a claim is caused by our willful misconduct).

Changes and termination

We may update these terms, or suspend or stop offering parts of the site, at any time. The "Last updated" date will change when we revise this page. We may refuse or limit access if you violate these terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including IP, disclaimer, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law) will survive termination.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer protections in your jurisdiction say otherwise. Courts located in California will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these terms, to the extent that is enforceable where you live.

Miscellaneous

These terms, plus the policies they incorporate by reference, are the entire agreement between you and us about the site. If a provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a reorganization or sale of assets related to DesignPass.dev.
